Emergent Bilinguals

An Emergent Bilingual (EB) is a student who is not a proficient English speaker and is receiving instruction to develop his or her English language skills. EB students can receive instruction in either English as a Second Language (ESL) or regular content area classes.

In addition to Bilingual or ESL classes offered at BRYSS Academy, Summit K12  is an additional resource to help student meet the state’s English-language proficiency standards.  Students get personalized learning plans or PLPs that are divided into four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Each PLP is designed to focus on the specific concepts and skills that each student needs the most.
