ELL Lab
ELL Lab
An English Language Learner (ELL) is a student who is not a proficient English speaker and is receiving instruction to develop his or her English language skills. ELL students can receive instruction in either English as a Second Language (ESL) or regular content area classes. ELL instruction within the Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success is guided by the district’s Special Populations Department.
In addition to Bilingual or ESL classes offered at the Brownsville Raul Yzaguirre School for Success Preparatory, the ELL computer lab provides students an additional resource to help them meet the state’s English-language proficiency standards. The ELL lab uses the Rosetta Stone program, which is among the world’s best language-learning software. The lab is open in the mornings before school and in the afternoons during the Accelerated Instruction afterschool classes.
